WHAT WE OFFER

Serving the Greater Tampa Bay area, Safety First Hurricane Planning, Inc., will come to your home or small business and complete a detailed hurricane risk assessment of your property.

Special Service

My Safe Florida Home Supplement – Knowing the integrity of your home or small business is a substantial part of hurricane planning. However, there is more to staying safe and minimizing damage than keeping the structure intact. If you have received a free hurricane inspection from the State of Florida, this special service is for you. We evaluate beyond the structure, determining hazards near, over, and around your home as well as concerns with your property that are not part of your home yet are just as important to your well-being and safety. These include: landscape hazards, securing outbuildings/sheds, boats and RVs, playground equipment and pool enclosures, as well as identifying sources of flooding, locations of safe rooms, and assisting with evacuation planning. Learn the complete way to prepare – it involves more than just reinforcing your home or business. This service is a fraction of the cost of our full evaluation.

Complete evaluation services include:

Structure Evaluation – Determine integrity of the building or buildings. Roof protection, roofing materials, location and exposure of eaves and soffits. Will your home or business withstand an onslaught of high winds and heavy rain? Learn what’s needed to answer “yes” to this question.

Window & Door Safety – Keeping the envelope of the home intact is critical. Windows need to be covered and doors properly secured. Garage doors are the primary failing point – is yours secure?

Landscape Hazards – Overhanging trees and limbs can cause significant damage … even in a tropical storm. Shrub loss is common, but doesn’t have to be routine. Learn how to save them from damage. Are your trees looming over your safety?

Damage-Prevention Strategies – From sheds and tile roofs to xeriscaping and pool cages, we provide information on the latest products available to retrofit your home or business.

Evacuation Plans – Batten down and get out is the two-pronged approach to hurricanes for many in the Tampa Bay area. Learn what you should do and what your options are before the storm. Then, escape the fastest way out.

Safe Room Identification – If your home is sturdy and not in an evacuation zone, the experts say it’s better to stay put. However, hurricanes such as Charley and Katrina are vicious and setting up a "last-resort" shelter inside the shelter of your home or business might be needed before the worst hits. Don’t know where to go or what to do? We’ll tell you.

Storm Surge Analysis – If hurricanes such as Andrew or Katrina hit the Bay area, Pinellas County would become two islands and the western edge of Hillsborough County would be submerged. Hurricane Ivan devastated Pensacola’s barrier islands in 2004, and we all know what Katrina brought. Facing storm surge? Learn what it is, what it does, and how your home will perform. Includes a breakdown of water levels at your location from tropical storms to Category 5 hurricanes.

Our Premium service includes all of the above, and:

Hurricane History – Just what are Tampa Bay’s odds of being battered by a major hurricane? When was the last major hurricane hit? 1950? 1944? 1921? Was it the worst? Could another Hurricane Charley strike? Twenty-five years ago a minimal hurricane (Elena) swirling over the eastern Gulf caused major damage in the Bay area ... and it never even hit land. Get the region's hurricane facts, figures and tracks, and the odds of being hit again.
